Track your pity status and calculate your chances of getting a 5★ character or light cone in Honkai Star Rail.
Enter 0 if you just got a 5★, or the number of pulls you've made since your last 5★
If you got a non-featured 5★ last time, your next 5★ is guaranteed to be the featured character
The pity system in Honkai Star Rail is designed to ensure players eventually get rare characters and light cones even if they have bad luck. Here's how it works:
Yes, pity counters carry over between banners of the same type. For example, if you pulled 50 times on one character event warp without getting a 5★, your pity counter for the next character event warp will start at 50.
When you pull a 5★ character on the character event warp, there's a 50% chance it will be the featured character. If you don't get the featured character, your next 5★ is guaranteed to be the featured character. This guarantee carries over between character event warps.
Soft pity is when your chances of getting a 5★ start to increase before reaching hard pity. For character warps, soft pity begins around pull 74, with the chance increasing with each pull. For light cone warps, soft pity begins around pull 65.
You can track your pity in-game by checking your warp records. The game keeps a history of your pulls, allowing you to count how many pulls you've made since your last 5★. Alternatively, you can use this calculator to help you track your pity and estimate your chances.
It depends on your goals. If you really want the featured character or light cone, pulling until pity ensures you'll eventually get it. However, if you're saving for future banners, you might want to set a limit on how many pulls you're willing to make.
